You are invited to experience Ashton's Bed and Breakfast, located in the charming Esplanade Ridge Historic District, just nine blocks from the edge of the world-famous French Quarter. Your Innkeepers, Karma and Patrick Ashton, offer gracious B&B accommodations and Southern hospitality from this antebellum mansion. The Inn was established in 1989 as "Mechling's Guest House" by Karma's Parents. Karma and Patrick purchased the property in 1998, and have continued the extensive renovation and preservation of this architectural treasure. This center-hall Greek Revival mansion (10,000 s.f.) was built in 1861 for A. B. Charpantier, just before the outbreak of the Civil War. As you enter through the arched wrought-iron gate, you are surrounded by lush greenery, and welcomed onto the large front veranda. Inside the main house, fifteen foot ceilings, key doorways, spacious rooms, and fine furnishings tell you this is no ordinary house. |
